The Red Tuxedo Sea Urchin, Mespilia globulus, also known as the Red Tuxedo Pincushion Urchin, Red Stripe Pincushion Urchin, Red Sphere Urchin, and Red Globe Urchin, is an excessive algae eater and tank cleaner. The Red Tuxedo Sea Urchin features red bands in between red, brown, or dark spines. They are best housed in tanks with plenty of algae to eat. Being nocturnal, the Red Tuxedo Sea Urchin will hide for much of the day to come out at night and search for its prey. It is reef safe and thrives in tanks with plenty of live rock.
